The final event on the SCIENCE BODYBOARD HAWAII REGIONAL TOUR powered by GO Airlines went off with our a hitch. Amazing surf amazing talent and amazing weather was on tap. The stoke was in the air as the frothing youth from around the state battled it out for free entry to the US Open event and free airfare presented by GO Airlines to the Sandy Beach Pro/Am in July.

The prestigious open division was dominated by Sammy “ The Mercat” Morrentino who had a stiff competition from runner up Kahekili Labette. It was Sammy who really impressed the judges with a variety in his Bodyboarding not seen by other competitors.  Rounding out the division finals was Brandon Buza and Tanny McDaniel in the 3rd and 4th position.

13-18 Amateur division had much of the same with Sammy once again taking out the field with local knowledge. Kahekili once again placed second with big flips and Abe Balmores right behind him with a narrow count back for the runner up spot and Eli Duar finishing fourth respectivley.

The 12 and unders was all about redemption as Calvin Cerrone who lost out the week prior, at his home break at Banyans in the 12 and under division , came back at Shipwrecks with a vengeance to take the division in Kauai. All the youth in Hawaii show promise on the USBA tour but Calvin seems to be the one turning heads from island to island each event. Kauai's Noah Schmidt did very well and placed second followed by Lanakila Dusentorme, Marc Bennet and  Sage Rasmusen for a 5 man final.

Women where the talk of the town today with a great performance from an all Kauaian final. Locals Asley Hori competing and winning her first ever US SCIENCE HI Regional event, followed by friend Avery Rowen, Kanesa Sepaphin and Casandara Silva.

The Day finished up with Drop Knee and Stand Up where Brandon Buza w/ a big spay/ snap maunver narrowly edged out Sammy Morrentino for the win after Sammy’s stellar DK Semi Final. Sammy finagled once more but it was Noah Howitt who really showed his skill level in the stand up division and finalized what was an amazing event.
